Frequently Asked Questions

What size cuts do you offer?

Yardage is typically available in either 1/4 or 1/2 yard increments. I also offer panels and remnants that are sold based on specific dimensions. Bundles are usually offered as fat quarters.

You will find this information, along with the width of fabric measurement, in each item’s listing description.

If you’re new to sewing (or just need a refresher), here is a diagram of the size of each cut:

Depending on your project, you may prefer 1/4 yard if you need more width or a fat quarter if you need more length. As you can see in the diagram, a fat quarter is created by cutting a 1/2 yard in half width-wise at the fold, creating a cut of approximately 18” x 22”. (This diagram assumes that the width of fabric from selvedge to selvedge is 44”.)

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about ordering different quantities and cuts of fabric. I’m always glad to help!

Is yardage cut continuously?

Yes, multiple quantities of 1/4 (or 1/2, depending on the minimum cut) yard will be cut continuously. For yardage, enter the quantity of 1/4 yards you would like. For example, 4 = 1 yard, 6 = 1-1/2 yards, 8 = 2 yards, etc.

How long will it take for me to receive my in-stock order?

There are two parts to getting your order to you:

Processing time: Processing time is the time it takes me to pack your order. It is approximately 2-5 business days. Sometimes I work on weekends and holidays but not always so they are not considered “business days” in this instance. Processing time can take up to 1-2 weeks during high volume sales and seasons.

Shipping time: Once your order ships, I cannot guarantee delivery times. However, First Class packages usually arrive within 2-5 days and Priority Mail packages typically arrive within 2-3 days, depending on where you live. International orders will take longer to arrive.

You can find more information about shipping rates and policies here.

Do you take preorders?

I am not accepting preorders for any items at this time.

 Do you accept returns?

Yes, I want you to be totally satisfied with your order! Please contact me if you have an issue with your order and I will do my best to resolve it. I accept returns within 14 days of delivery. Because the window for returns is limited, I encourage you to open your order and inspect it right away when you receive it so you can let me know your concerns and we can work together in a timely manner to get them resolved.

Refunds will be issued once return items are received. Full refunds do not include shipping and customer is responsible for return shipping costs, unless it is my error.

Can I cancel my order?

Orders can be canceled as long as they have not been shipped yet. If your order has already been shipped, please refer to the previous question or see the Refund Policy.

I forgot something! Can you combine my orders?

If your order has not shipped yet, please contact me and I will be glad to combine multiple orders and refund any shipping overages.

Do you offer local pickup?

Yes! If you live in the Greenville area, please contact me if you would like to arrange for local pickup.

Can I apply a discount code to an order I already placed?

Maybe. Please contact me if you forgot to enter your discount code on a recent order. If it is a current discount code, I will be happy to apply it and issue a partial refund. If it is a sale or discount code that is no longer being offered, I will not be able to honor it. Thank you for understanding and be sure to follow me on Instagram @greatheronthreadco and sign up for my newsletter to stay up to date with current sales and offers.

Will I pay tax on my order?

If you live in North Carolina, you will be charged a NC state sales tax and an additional, variable county tax rate on your order and shipping.

Do you offer a quantity discount?

No, but I do have a partnership with Alderwood Studio’s Modern Makes membership! Members receive a discount code that they can use on every single order for 15% off their entire purchase! Find out more about the membership here.

I’m a quilt pattern designer interested in collaborating to create a quilt kit - where can I find more information about this?

Unfortunately, I do not have the capacity to take requests for specific quilt kits at this time but hope to do so again in the future. Thank you for understanding.
