My Story

Hi there, friend!

I’m Justine, the owner, designer, and maker at Great Heron Thread Co. I started exploring with needle and thread as a teenager and just kept going! From cross stitch to knitting, embroidery, felting, punch needle, and hand spinning - I love to try new ways of being creative! My favorite things to make have always been the ones that bring people love, encouragement, and comfort. These days what I love to make most are quilts to wrap around my sweethearts and bags to carry the things that matter. 

I'm so excited you're here and look forward to getting to know you and see what you're making! My shop is a place for finding beautiful modern fabrics, sewing notions, kits, and fun gifts that I hope you’ll really love. You'll also find my own patterns and those of other independent designers!  

My shop is based out of my home in Greenville, North Carolina where I live with my husband, three children, five cats, a bunny, and a bearded dragon.
